50-Year-old Gets Carded!

"I still remember when I got my first library card," Katie Couric exclaimed in a recent video essay -- but apparently the producer who was paid to write this memory for the busy CBS news personality actually lifted it from a piece that appeared in the Wall Street Journal.

This is bad news for Couric, perhaps, but even worse news for those outdated citadels of literary communism, libraries.

Or to put it another way, two out of the three media bigwigs involved in this story found libraries so unnecessary to their intellectual development and future professional success they have no memories of them. Indeed, they were apparently so unfamiliar with the dim, musty, book-infested crypts they couldn't even make something up!

So much for libraries...
